Guide · Servo repair
What affects the cost of a servo motor repair?
The cost of a servo motor repair depends mainly on what failed, whether the part is still available, the motor size and how fast you need it. A findings report before any work is approved states the options. Star Automations is an independent multi-brand repair company and is not an OEM service centre.
The main factors
- Fault type: bearings, brake, encoder or windings cost different amounts to fix.
- Parts availability: discontinued encoders and obsolete parts take longer and cost more.
- Motor size and type: larger or special motors need more work.
- Urgency: emergency same-day, urgent 3 working days and standard 7 working days are available where the fault and parts allow.
- Condition of the rest of the motor: a worn motor may need more than one repair.
Repair or replace
Where a new motor is available quickly and the repair is large, replacement can be the better choice. Where the model is obsolete, or a replacement means a new drive and cables, repair is often the practical option. See servo motor repair or replace.
How to get a quote
Send the motor make, model, fault and a photo of the nameplate. We confirm repairability before you ship, and the findings report states the options before any work is approved.
