From electronics troubleshooting to a full life for industrial equipment
Star's aim has stayed the same since the start: solve the customer's problem and give their equipment its full working life, using whichever route is really possible: repair, refurbishment, retrofit, upgrade or migration.

An early interest in electronics
Suresh Sankaran's interest in electronics, new electronic inventions and troubleshooting started while he was still at school.
- 1995
Electronics and computer hardware
He began troubleshooting electronics and computer hardware professionally.
- 1998
The servo motor gap
He saw that servo motor repair was a real challenge for Indian industry, researched it, completed training in the USA, and set up a universal servo motor repair and test capability. Before Star, he ran Baba Electronics.
- 2000
Star Automations founded
Star Automations began providing troubleshooting and sales to industrial customers, then added retrofit.
- Growth
OEM programmes and field service
Star took on warranty and non-warranty repair and field service support for OEM brands across India, depot repair at component level, and on-site repair and retrofit across India and abroad. Star has also carried out third-party repair and maintenance work for the rail sector.

Five sites, one standard
Motor refurbishment with an in-house universal servo test system, component-level repair-return, EV electronics, obsolete spares and surplus buyback, control panels, cable harnesses and small brushless motors up to 1 kW, from Puducherry, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Delhi, under ISO 9001:2015.
