Tamagawa and Panasonic encoder repair: TS5643 to TS5781, MFE0017, MFE2500

Tamagawa makes the encoders inside Panasonic, Toshiba, Shibaura, Nachi, Shinko, Kobelco and many robot and machine-tool servo motors, often under the Panasonic MFE name. We test the serial count and status, repair or replace the encoder, and align it so the motor runs on its own drive.

Repair turnaround you can plan around

Send a photo of the nameplate first. We confirm whether the motor is repairable, and the quote, the same working day.

Emergency: same day

For a line-down motor, where the fault and parts allow. WhatsApp us before you send it so the bench is kept free.

Urgent: 3 working days

Repair, encoder alignment and test, counted from the day the motor reaches the bench and the quote is approved.

Standard: 7 working days

Full repair, encoder alignment, run test under load and a printed test report.

  • Free repairability check from a nameplate photo
  • Printed test report with every motor
  • Written warranty, terms stated on every quotation
  • Pickup can be arranged; parts that must be imported are quoted with their own timeline

02Faults

How these encoders usually fail

  • Serial communication errors from water or coolant on the board
  • Battery-related multi-turn loss on absolute types
  • Encoder board damaged by a wrong cable or shorted 5 V supply
  • Count errors from a contaminated or cracked disc
  • Connector pins pushed back on small JST or AMP connectors
03Identify

Reading the label

Tamagawa part numbers start with TS, followed by four digits and an N suffix for the variant, such as TS5667N100. Panasonic motors often show only the MFE number. The older SA and OA codes, such as SA48 or OAM74, describe the encoder family.

06FAQ

Questions

Is MFE0017 the same as a Tamagawa encoder?

Yes, it is a Tamagawa serial encoder of the TS5667 family supplied under a Panasonic code.

My Panasonic motor shows an encoder communication alarm. Can it be repaired?

Often, yes. We check the cable and connector first, then the encoder board. If the encoder itself has failed we replace and align it.

Do you repair robot motors with Tamagawa encoders?

Yes, including Nachi, Shinko and Kobelco robot axis motors.

Send the nameplate or encoder label

A clear photo of the motor nameplate and, if the cover is off, the encoder label is enough to start. We reply with whether it can be repaired and a quote.
