Servo motor encoder replacement

When an encoder cannot be repaired, we fit a matching replacement and make the motor behave exactly as before: same interface, resolution and mechanical fit, aligned to the rotor and, where needed, programmed with the motor's data. You get the motor back tested, not a loose encoder and an alignment problem.

Repair turnaround you can plan around

Send a photo of the nameplate first. We confirm whether the motor is repairable, and the quote, the same working day.

Emergency: same day

For a line-down motor, where the fault and parts allow. WhatsApp us before you send it so the bench is kept free.

Urgent: 3 working days

Repair, encoder alignment and test, counted from the day the motor reaches the bench and the quote is approved.

Standard: 7 working days

Full repair, encoder alignment, run test under load and a printed test report.

  • Free repairability check from a nameplate photo
  • Printed test report with every motor
  • Written warranty, terms stated on every quotation
  • Pickup can be arranged; parts that must be imported are quoted with their own timeline
01Matching

What has to match

ItemWhy it matters
InterfaceIncremental, Hiperface, EnDat, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Tamagawa, Yaskawa and SSI encoders talk to drives in different ways
ResolutionCounts per revolution must match the drive parameter, for example 2,048, 8,192, 131,072 or 1,048,576
Commutation patternUVW, C1 to C8, sine and cosine tracks or memory offset, to suit the motor's pole count
Single or multi-turnMulti-turn absolute encoders keep the revolution count and need a battery or a geared multi-turn stage
Mechanical fitTapered or hollow shaft, mounting, connector and cable exit
Memory formatMotors that store data in the encoder need that data written back
02Process

How a replacement is done

  1. Identify

    Read the label and memory.

  2. Source

    Exact or approved match.

  3. Fit

    Mount without stressing bearings.

  4. Align and program

    Offset and motor data.

  5. Prove

    Run test and report.

03FAQ

Questions

Can I buy just the encoder from you?

Yes, where we can source the exact type. We recommend sending the motor so the encoder is aligned and programmed; a bare encoder fitted without alignment usually causes overcurrent or rough running.

Will a compatible encoder from another maker work?

Only if the interface, resolution, commutation pattern and memory format match what the drive expects. We check this before offering an alternative and tell you plainly if there is none.

How long does a replacement take?

From stock or Indian sources, within the urgent or standard timelines. Imported encoders are quoted with their own lead time.

Do you replace the encoder on obsolete motors?

Often, yes. Older incremental, Yaskawa C-channel and early serial encoders can still be sourced new, refurbished or as compatible types.

04Enquiry

Send the nameplate or encoder label

A clear photo of the motor nameplate and, if the cover is off, the encoder label is enough to start. We reply with whether it can be repaired and a quote.
