Programmable Electronic Load Testing Service in Bengaluru
Star Automations runs programmable electronic load tests from our Bengaluru office in Mahadevapura. We load your power supply, SMPS, adapter, LED driver, converter, charger or battery at set conditions and give you a test record for every unit: the load mode and set values, the measured voltage, current and power, and a pass or fail result against your limits. Use us for outsourced testing, production overflow, burn-in, validation runs, post-repair checks or on-site sessions.

Important: This is an in-house electrical test and test record service for pre-compliance, production, validation and post-repair testing. It is not NABL-accredited testing, and it is not BIS or CE certification. Our records do not replace a certified laboratory's report. For accredited certification, please use a NABL- or BIS-recognised laboratory.
What is electronic load testing?
An electronic load is a programmable instrument that draws a set current, voltage, resistance or power from a source. It stands in for the real device that the source would normally power, so we can test a power supply, charger, converter or battery under controlled loading and record how it behaves.
Each load mode suits a different check: current capability, start-up, converter behaviour or battery discharge.
| Mode | What the load does |
|---|---|
| CC, constant current | Draws a fixed current |
| CR, constant resistance | Behaves like a fixed resistor |
| CP, constant power | Draws fixed power |
| CV, constant voltage | Holds a set voltage |
Tests we run
| Test | What it checks | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Load and line regulation | Output voltage stability as load steps from light to heavy | Within the rating of our load |
| Start-up and turn-on behaviour | How the source starts into a set load | CR and CP modes |
| Battery discharge and capacity timing | Capacity and cut-off behaviour under constant current or power | Low-voltage cells, modules and small packs only |
| Burn-in at a set load | Behaviour over a stated duration at a set load, with logged readings | Duration agreed per job |
| Other tests (over-current and over-power protection, dynamic step response, ripple and noise, efficiency, solar and UPS output tests) | Available on request; we confirm for your job | On request |

The right set points, limits and duration for your product come from your product specification or your own test plan.

Ways to work with us
- Outsourced testing at our Bengaluru lab: per-unit testing of samples or batches.
- Production overflow: extra capacity when your own load or tester is busy or down.
- Burn-in programmes: a stated load profile and duration, with logged readings per unit.
- On-site testing in Bengaluru: we bring the load to your premises for equipment that is hard to move.
- Post-repair load test record: for repaired or refurbished drives, power supplies and inverter boards.
- On request: annual testing contracts, test-fixture and test-program setup, and training for your team.
How it works
Send the details
Product type, quantity, rated voltage, current and power, and your test limits or specification. Ship samples to us or book an on-site visit in Bengaluru.
Agree the test plan
We confirm in writing the load mode, set values, duration, limits and connections, and tell you if your product is outside our load's range.
Test
Trained staff run each unit in a supervised area. Every unit is tested and logged individually.
Receive the record
You get a test record with the set conditions, the measured values and a pass or fail result.
What you receive
A test record (PDF) that lists, for each unit:
- Unit ID or serial number
- Load mode and set values (for example, CC at a stated current), ramp and duration
- Measured voltage, current and power at each step
- Ripple or other readings, if measured and agreed
- Pass or fail against the limits you supplied
- Instrument model used, test date and operator name
Logged data files, photos and remarks can be added on request. We run the test you specify. We do not interpret compliance with a standard for you.
Safety first
High-current and battery testing is hazardous. We test only with trained staff in a supervised area, with the source isolated and de-energised between steps, and with an emergency cut-off. We do not work on high-voltage EV battery packs. We do not give unsafe energising instructions, and we do not rent out or hand over the instrument. Please do not attempt this testing without proper training.

Frequently asked questions
What is electronic load testing?
Electronic load testing uses a programmable instrument that draws a set current, voltage, resistance or power from a source, such as a power supply, charger, converter or battery. It lets us check how the source behaves under controlled loading, and record the measured values against your specification, without connecting the real end product.
What is the difference between an electronic load and a load bank?
An electronic load is a programmable instrument that sinks power with fine control, used for power supplies, chargers, converters and batteries on a bench. A load bank is usually a large resistive or reactive bank for generators and big power systems. We offer bench electronic load testing, not generator load bank testing.
What can you test with a programmable electronic load?
Within the rating of our load, we can test power supplies, SMPS, adapters, LED drivers, DC-DC converters, low-voltage chargers and batteries. Typical checks are load and line regulation, over-current protection, start-up, battery discharge timing and burn-in at a set load, with each result logged in a test record.
What voltage, current and power limits can you test?
The limit is set by the rated voltage, current and power of our electronic load, which we confirm against your product before agreeing a test plan. Send the maximum voltage, current and power of your device on WhatsApp. If it exceeds our range, we will tell you before any work starts.
Are your test records NABL or BIS certified?
No. We provide in-house electrical testing and a test record for pre-compliance, production, validation and post-repair checks. We are not a NABL-accredited or BIS-recognised laboratory, and our records do not replace accredited reports. For certification or BIS registration, please use a NABL- or BIS-recognised laboratory.
What do I receive after testing?
You receive a test record, usually a PDF, listing for each unit the load mode and set conditions, duration, measured voltage, current and power at each step, and a pass or fail result against the limits you gave us. It also shows the instrument model used, the test date and the operator name.
Do you test EV chargers and battery packs?
We can run load and discharge tests on low-voltage chargers, DC-DC converters, battery cells, modules and small packs that fall within our load's rating, with a supervised test area. We do not work on high-voltage EV battery packs. Type approval, thermal and cycle-life testing need an accredited laboratory.
Can you test UPS units and solar inverters?
We can test the DC side, such as battery, charger and DC-DC stages, within our load's rating. Output-side tests on a complete UPS or inverter need an AC load or source, so we confirm feasibility for each unit before agreeing a test plan. We do not do generator or large UPS commissioning.
Can you test data-centre power supplies?
We can load-test server and telecom power supply modules, DC power shelves and similar parts rail by rail, within the rating of our electronic load. We do not perform rack-level or room-level load bank testing, generator testing or commissioning sign-off. Share the module's rated output so we can confirm feasibility.
Who performs the testing?
Our trained staff run every load test, at our Bengaluru facility or at your premises, in a supervised area with the source isolated between steps. We do not rent out or hand over the instrument, because high-current and battery testing is hazardous. You send the units or we visit, and you receive the test record.
Do you load-test drives and power supplies after repair?
Yes. After repair, we can load-test the control power supply, DC-link or DC-bus supply and DC-DC stages at set conditions and issue a test record for each unit. It is a bench check within our load's rating, not a type test and not a motor dynamometer test.
How do I request a test?
Send the product type, quantity, rated voltage, current and power, test specification or limits, and whether you need lab, on-site, overflow or burn-in testing on WhatsApp at +91 97866 22233 or through the enquiry form at www.starautomations.com. We agree a written test plan before any samples are tested.
