PLC program conversion: RSLogix 5 and 500 to Studio 5000
Star Automations converts legacy PLC programs from RSLogix 5 and RSLogix 500 to Studio 5000 Logix Designer, and develops FactoryTalk View applications. Rockwell conversion tools are used as a starting point; every conversion warning is reviewed by an engineer, and the result is tested against the original behaviour.

What needs care in this migration
Conversion is a starting point
Automatic conversion handles much of the ladder but not everything. Addressing, timers, messaging and special instructions need review.
What you receive
A converted project, a conversion report listing what was changed, an I/O mapping document and a test plan.
Testing
The new program is tested against the legacy one by simulation and on the machine before cutover.
FactoryTalk View
Screens and tags are rebuilt or converted and checked with the controller tags.
Our migration process
- Migration readiness audit: inventory of hardware, firmware, networks, programs and spares
- Back up and document the running system before anything is touched
- Design the target architecture and I/O mapping; agree scope and the cutover approach
- Convert and rebuild the program and HMI, with every conversion warning reviewed by hand
- Test in stages: simulation, panel factory test where panels are built, then site testing
- Cutover with a rollback plan, then handover documentation
What we need from you: Program backups (or access to the running processor); Electrical drawings and the I/O list, if available; Network layout and device list; Photos of nameplates, panels and wiring; Your shutdown windows and any safety requirements.
