EV motor and controller repair for EV OEMs, after warranty and out of warranty

Star Automations repairs EV hub motors, traction motors and motor controllers for electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler brands, motor and controller manufacturers, importers, and overseas companies selling into India. We take back units that are out of warranty or were never covered, repair them under your RMA numbers, test them, and return them with a report per serial. Your dealers get a serviceable unit at a lower cost than new, and you keep the customer, the warranty and the design.

01Who it is for

Built for the company behind the vehicle

This service is for the business that owns the product and the after-sales promise. Riders and fleet operators reach us through your dealer or service network.

EV brand owners

Electric two-wheeler, three-wheeler, e-rickshaw and light commercial vehicle brands whose dealers replace whole motors and controllers once the warranty ends.

Motor and controller makers

Make in India hub motor, mid-drive motor and controller manufacturers who supply vehicle brands and carry the field returns.

Importers

Companies importing hub motors and controllers for Indian vehicle brands, who need a repair route in India for units the overseas supplier will not take back.

Overseas powertrain companies

Motor and controller makers outside India who want failed units repaired and returned here, close to the vehicle.

02The after-sales gap

Why EV OEMs need a repair route

EV motors and controllers come back for a short list of reasons: water ingress after flooding or washing, a failed Hall or position sensor, a damaged phase lead or connector, worn bearings, or a burnt power stage in the controller.

Out of warranty, the dealer usually replaces the whole hub motor or controller. The rider pays more, the dealer waits for stock, and the failed unit is scrapped although most of it is sound.

Repair-return gives your service network a lower-cost option, keeps vehicles on the road, and sends failure data back to your engineering and supplier teams.

03Scope

What we repair

We work on the motor, its feedback and the controller that drives it. Tell us the model, voltage and power class, and we confirm what we can repair before you ship.

  • BLDC hub motors for two-wheelers and three-wheelers
  • Mid-drive and traction PMSM motors
  • Motor controllers: power stage, gate drivers, control board
  • Hall sensors, resolvers and position sensors
  • Phase leads, connectors and motor harnesses
  • Bearings, seals and water-ingress damage
  • Magnet and rotor inspection
  • Throttle, brake-cut and CAN interface faults on the controller
04How it works

How a repair programme starts

Start small. Send a few failed units, judge us on the reports, then agree the programme.

  1. NDA and data

We sign your NDA and you share the motor and controller data you are willing to share: ratings, test limits and the faults you see most.

  2. Bench trial

You send 2 to 3 failed units. We find the fault, repair them, test them and send a report on each.

  3. Agree the method

We agree the test method, acceptance limits, report format and the RMA and serial numbering you use.

  4. Run the programme

Units come in from your dealers or warehouse under your RMA numbers and go back repaired, tested and labelled, or marked not repairable with the reason.

  5. Failure data

You receive a periodic summary of failure modes by model and batch, so your design and supplier teams can act on it.

06Verification

How a repaired EV motor and controller are tested

Each motor is checked for insulation and phase balance, Hall sensor timing and back-EMF, then run with a controller. Seals are checked where water ingress caused the failure.

Controllers are function-tested with a motor, including throttle response and fault reporting. We do not change your firmware or calibration.
